Sir,

Foreign Office to the China League.

Foreign Office, May 24, 1906.

I AM directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 12th instant on the subject of Chinese Mining Regulations.

I am to inform you that the Regulations drawn up by the Viceroy of Hu Kwang have been laid before the Throne, and are being considered by the Wai-wu Pu and the Board of Commerce. When the deliberations of the two Boards are completed, the Chinese Government have undertaken that a copy of the Regulations shall be communicated to His Majesty's Legation at Peking.

His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Peking has been instructed to keep the matter before the Chinese Government.
